Entrepreneurs and content marketing: 16 quotes to encourage you 1

Do you enjoy quotes? I have them all around me in my workplace, on the walls, as decorations, and some remind me of essential values. Are you an entrepreneur, freelancer, or manager of a small business? If you often visit these pages, you know what to do I promote content marketing to gain recognition, attract new leads, and turn them into customers. Although creating content may appear easy at first glance, the truth is it is much trickier. You should always write with one main goal in mind: please your audience ! In addition, finding inspiration can sometimes be tough we may face challenges in refreshing ourselves.

So, if you find yourself in a dull phase, if you struggle to achieve measurable results from your content strategy, I suggest you consider a list of quotes on Content Marketing. Additionally, much of the article may motivate you in other areas of your professional journey. I hope this assists you in rethinking your actions and returning to the basics.

Delight your audience!

Do you ever wonder why you do this job? Why do you spend so much time creating, writing and publishing content? If not, then I invite you to write this question somewhere on your desk so you have it in front of you.

Too often we forget the «why» and when this is the case we end up writing for ourselves and, consequently, of no interest to anyone. This quote from Jolie Miller, in an interview with Cameron Conaway in April 2017, reminds us why our work matters:

Hmm, really? Maybe you think your industry has no reason to generate such interactions with your audience? Andrea Fryrear recently shared a similar thought:

This quote from Maya Angelou extends this same idea even further.

So what do you do when you think your industry isn’t great? It always comes back to the user, your customer. Forget about your product for a while. DIY brands have helped me a lot to do my job without incurring too many costs, simply by publishing content suited to the user I am.

Try to help your reader overcome themselves, overcome their obstacles thanks to your help Also, he will not hesitate to share this useful content if it works for him. This is enough to renew your motivation and above all help you see the creation of your content differently. We often say it: write for your readers! What can you give him? How can you impact their lives?

How can you produce this kind of feeling for your audience? Perhaps by ceasing to function as marketers:

Here’s what you should keep in mind when creating content:

Go back to basics

Another reflection of digital marketers: produce more and more content. Without a real strategy, you will only add noise to the ambient noise. You need to set goals, but not just any goals. And limit them!

What’s really important to your customers? Flaunting our successes, praising the merits of our company, this doesn’t help. Creating content that closely resembles that of your competitors also means adding noise to the ambient noise. Do less, but do what’s truly important.

Do less to get more results? Is it really possible? If you want to do less, you need to have a strategy! A rudder to direct your efforts. How much content do you create and on which platforms? Which ones does it work on and which ones don’t produce results? What content doesn’t satisfy your audience? Solve it by analyzing the results of your web marketing.

Doing less, but in a more focused and strategic way, sometimes requires putting some ideas and plans aside. And that can be incredibly difficult. Jessica Abel has developed what she calls the concept of “debt of ideas” (a word-for-word translation that certainly doesn’t do justice to the initial concept):

Need another reason to do less? This quote from James Altucher helps me focus when I tend to get distracted, lose focus, and move on to things of little importance:

Furthermore, this also applies to your content. Concentrate on the essentials! You can’t say everything in one blog post. Choose a theme, define a subject and an angle and focus on it, as Joe Pulizzi points out in this quote which is not the most elegant of this selection, but is quite significant:

Don’t waste any more time

If you want to do less, you’ll need a strategy and a focus on what’s most important. Do you see yourself in the following quote?

So when you’re tempted by distraction, scrolling through social media for trivia, remember this quote:

And I really think that’s an important point. Creating content requires our attention. It’s impossible for me to write an article if I’m not completely focused. I need to gather my thoughts, build a plan, explain my content and make it as clear and attractive as possible.

And the problem is that we tend to work poorly. How many times, while I write an article or make a video, my attention is distracted by a Facebook notification, by the desire to browse this news site, to do this or that much less urgent thing, etc.? In short, we are attracted to everything except what is truly useful!

I often go to bed thinking I don’t have enough time and wake up complaining that I didn’t get enough sleep. Does this happen to you too? So you need to refocus. Turn off notifications and if you don’t need the Internet I also invite you to turn off the connection. Sometimes it’s necessary. Creating spaces, moments of creation and breathing.

Linda Stone (later worked at Apple and Microsoft in the 1980s and 1990s) coined the term “continuous partial attention” which describes this state in which one seems continually worried about a thousand things without being truly concentrated on anything. This is, ultimately, a pretty good description of modern life where our digital identity tends to take precedence over our real life.

So, it goes without saying that you need some discipline to structure your business and better manage your time to successfully achieve your goals.

And take the time to be creative!

I recently read an excellent book, which I wish I had written, and which I strongly encourage you to read as well. In his work, Too fast to thinkChris Lewis urges us to take the time to do nothing to become creative again, as evidenced by this quote from his book:

Take time to do nothing. Let the ideas come rather than racking your brain to make them appear. We live in a society where everyone is always busy… or pretending to be! Doing nothing is frowned upon, we need to fill the gaps, even if it means wasting time on trivial things.

Do you take the time to sit on the sofa, behind the desk or lying in bed, without a smartphone, without a book, without a computer or TV? Let your thoughts wander and you will find original ideas. The feeling of creative drought often arises from a period in which we are overloaded. Most of these requests are useless. Never underestimate the power of long, drawn-out silence.

Turn off notifications and take time to think and reflect. You will see how this will affect your work and even your extra-professional life. In conclusion, rethink your marketing content regularly, try to delight your customers and potential customers, define your goals precisely and without multiplying them, and take the time to be creative. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you need directions!
